Rheumatism or Rheumatic Disorder

Sources dealing with rheumatism tend to focus on inflammation of joints or arthritis but “rheumatism” may also refer to other conditions causing chronic pain, grouped as “non-articular rheumatism”, also known as “regional pain syndrome” or “soft tissue rheumatism, The term “Rheumatic Diseases” is used to refer to connective tissue disorders.

Term’s

The term rheumatism in the current sense has been in use since the late 17th century, as it was believed that chronic joint pain was caused by excessive flow of rheum or bodily fluids into a joint.
The term rheumatism is somewhat older, adopted in the early 17th century in a different meaning, from Late Latin rheumatisms, ultimately leading to indicate “to suffer from a flux”, i.e. any discharge of blood or bodily fluid.
Before the 17th century, joint pain thought to be caused by vicious humor seeping into the joints was named gout- rheumatism”.

Description

Treatment for Rheumatism and its Complications
A vast number of traditional herbal remedies are recommended for rheumatism. Modern medicine, both conventional and alternative, recognizes that the different rheumatic disorders have different reasons (and several of them have multiple causative factors) and require different kinds of treatment, such as paracetamol and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), members of which are ibuprofen and naproxen. Often, stronger analgesics are required. However, there are drawbacks and side effects. Stomach upset and heartburn may occur. These effects may persist or worsen with certain foods and drugs.
Other side effects may occur and experienced as easy bruising/bleeding, difficulty In the hearing, ringing in the ears, signs of kidney problems (such as a change in the amount of
urine), persistent or severe nausea/vomiting, unexplained tiredness, dizziness, dark urine, yellowing eyes, and skin. These drugs may rarely cause serious bleeding from
the stomach/intestine or other areas of the body indicating usurpation or aggravation of
ulcers. Various types of allergy do also occur.
